WELCOME TO ROOM 16

We'll be watching Learn Zillion videos in class from time to time.  These are aligned with the Common Core Standards.  When we watch one in class, I'll give the students a code so they can also watch the video at home.

In the spring, third graders will be taking the Smarter Balance Test based on the Common Core Content Standards.  If you'd like to see what the test will be like, there are practice tests available on line:

Language Arts - Scholastic

We are so excited to begin using our various Scholastic magazines! I have purchased subscriptions for 5 different Scholastic magazines.(Storyworks, Scholastic News, Super Science, Science Spin, and Geography Spin) All are available online: (See Scholastic Letter sent home for instructions on how to access)

The majority of the stories will be read in class; however, at times I will assign a story to be read for homework. Each student will receive a Storyworks and Super Science magazine each month. They may either read from the magazine or online when a story is assigned to read for homework. Students are able to reread or listen to the stories on line at any time! In addition, they can watch the videos online that are connected to a particular story.
